Gus
Gus October 25, 2013 to December 22, 2025
It's with a heavy heart that we had to say goodbye to our Gus. He came to us when he was five months old.
We have so many great memories of which these are just a few.
He loved to go off camping with us in the trailer. When I was packing it, he always had to be in the trailer with me. He'd go to get his toys and play with them as I packed.
We took him to the Oregon Coast when he was young. It was the first time that he had seen the ocean and a sandy beach. He had a great time rolling in the sand. He learned very quickly that when the waves came in he got wet, which he didn't like, so he ran along the waters edge and as the waves came in he ran further up the beach.
He always liked to go to see Wendy to be groomed. As soon as we got near her house, he would bark and wag his tail and wouldn't stop till we got to her door and she picked him up. Gus was great friends with Aengus and Angus. When we said we were going to their house Gus got all excited and when we arrived he was at their door scratching to get in.
Gus was a real charcter, he loved to watch TV after dinner. If we, in his estimation were a little slow to watch it, Gus would pace around the house and then stand in front of us and stare with his stuffy in his mouth. When we said okay lets watch TV, he was gone and sitting in front of the TV before we got there. If he saw a squirrel or a horse he would grab his stuffy and rush at the TV and shake and wag his tail.
As soon as the toaster came out Gus would come running from wherever he was in the house and jump up at it barking and wagging his tail.
Gus was a real trooper with all the medical issues he had, he would fight them and bounce back again. He was our little energizer bunny. When he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, it was a battle he couldn't win.
For such a little dog Gus had a huge presence. We miss him dearly.
